ARTURO FUENTE CIGARS - The Story of Arturo Fuente Hemingway Cigars as told by Carlos Fuente, Jr.
My Grandfather always made Cuban Perfecto cigars. Perfecto cigars were very, very, popular during the 1920’s, 30’s and 40’s. We made perfecto-shaped cigars by hand, and as time went by there were fewer and fewer cigar makers rolling Perfectos. In the early 70’s production was stopped for many years.
When we first came to Dominican Republic I though we should start making those shapes again. But at the time nobody was making shaped cigars. My father was the only one that knew how to make those shaped cigars because he had been taught by my grandfather. He searched Ybor City for the old original molds, which was important because no one could make these molds, Which he found.
Working on blends until he was satisfied with the blend and the shape my father taught our master roller to make it. And the rest is history.
